Neil Forrest: Hiving Mesh
St. Mary's University Gallery
Halifax, Nova Scotia, CAN 1999
Hiving Mesh is a ceramic sculpture by Neil Forrest made of many hundreds of biomorphic forms arranged in a floating three-dimensional matrix. The forms are derived from pine cones and bee hives, and include distortions resulting from disease and mutation.
Philip Beesley collaborated with Neil Forrest in development of digital model visualizations and installation of the three dimensional matrix. He developed a catalogue and critical essay giving context for the work. The work was presented at St.Mary’s University Gallery, Halifax.
