Breathing Pore Cluster

Design Exchange

Toronto, Ontario, CAN  2017

Exhibited in Evolution at the Design Exchange, Philip Beesley’s Breathing Pore Cluster is a set of shape-memory alloy mechanisms. Housed inside these fronds, a flask containing protocells demonstrate ‘living’ chemical exchanges.

Evolution examines how biomimicry—the design of products, services, and systems that imitate nature’s models—has given new rise to design thinking. The exhibition runs from January 17 – April 28, 2017.
